Listening 2: difficult feedback answer

A new interview theme: maturity under pressure.

Question

Tell me about a time you received difficult feedback. How did you handle it?

Listen to two answers. Which one protects the candidate’s professional image?

Too emotional / too exposed

I got feedback from someone at work, and honestly I didn’t like it. I think the person was rude, and I didn’t know what to say. But I just said okay and moved on.

Mature and controlled

I once received feedback that caught me off guard. I didn’t fully agree with the way it was delivered, but I tried to focus on the message rather than the tone. I acknowledged the point, adjusted my approach, and later reflected on how important it is to read the room and adapt your communication style to the context.

After each answer:

  3. One sentence to repeat in a sharper version.
